Getting paid & working with partners | Agreements & contracts for artists

The Free Art School is a series of creative sessions run by Artist-Led St Helens, where we get together to share the stuff that helps artists actually get by. It’s about learning the behind-the-scenes bits (things like writing proposals, planning events, getting paid, or finding funding) without any jargon or pressure. Led by Claire Weetman and Gee Collins, it’s all based on the idea that everyone’s got something to teach and something to learn.

Where relevant, we will add key learning points from these sessions to the Artist-Led St Helens Wiki page, so that the information is freely available in future.

There are a maximum of 8 places available on each session.

This Session:

We’ll use our Venue Contracts chapter in the Artist’s Toolkit as a starting point for a session that helps you to have clear communication when working with partners and commissioners. 

We’ll think about asking for an agreement, looking at and negotiating contracts from commissioners and creating your own agreement.
